The Black Shame, was a marauding chaos pirate vessel. It would sack the pilgrimage route of Saint Minerva. Often working in fleet movement with other ships.
As a raider it worked in flanking maneuvers with its sister ship The Comet Anger. These ships would often shell the flank of ships bullying them with macro-cannons while a larger ship would conduct boarding.
Once then it would get a share of any loot; supplies, personal effects, hostages and slaves.
The Black Shame is crewed mostly by slaves. The difference to the press ganged sailor might at first seem small but it is in fact quite a difference. Often the Slaves of the Shame worked under threat of torture, starvation and exhaustion, and this is on the good days. Most of the slaves were equipped with slave collars.
In the later part of the 42nd Millennium the Black shame ran into the Century Hawk and her crew which resulted in most of the pirates being killed, or blown out to space as the crew captured the vessel.
